Introduction to Algorithm Lab.
【Latest AI Technology Trends and Research Vision】
Current AI systems are evolving rapidly, driven by advancements in multimodal LLMs, sophisticated reasoning models, and autonomous AI agents. The field is shifting away from conventional single-function deep learning and early GAN-based image generation toward native multimodal understanding, diffusion models, and the modeling of thought processes capable of complex problem-solving.
Furthermore, AI-driven research support and scientific discovery are expanding well beyond fields like drug discovery, materials science, and molecular synthesis; they now encompass autonomous hypothesis testing, automated code generation, and multi-agent collaborative systems.
However, significant challenges remain for current AI systems:
・Achieving advanced causal inference
・Acquiring embodiment for physical interaction with the real world
・Integrating and ensuring consistency across heterogeneous frameworks and knowledge bases
・Automating and integrating AI ethics (ethical alignment), governance, and legal interpretation
To address these issues, Algorithm Lab. conducts cutting-edge research focused on hierarchical AI integration using high-level concepts, contextual understanding of multimodal information, and the automation of autonomous, ethical AI research processes, while providing robust support to researchers.
